Catching Up With The Core

Posted by: crunchtime

With a long drought of CGS play ahead of us, it gives the players and GMs a time to relax and reflect on past accomplishments and changes for the future. I was able to catch up with Joe “Phantom” Tackett, Ryan “OffBeat Ninja” Ward, Sonny “s0nny” Tran and Andrew “Anomaly” Brock about their summers and impressions on the season. Hit the jump to see what the 2008 North American Champions had to say!

Mystik Pro-Player Tip in Dead or Alive 4

Posted by: MarkDolven

The Carolina Core is proud to release a new series on the web site entitled "CGS Pro-Player Tips." While we were in Los Angeles for the 2008 season, the CGS online video staff was gracious enough to help produce four expert tips with four different Core players. You will see a lot of these videos popping on other CGS team sites as well, but the Core videos will be featuring Offbeat Ninja, Mystik, Anomaly and General E. How can you go wrong with those four individuals giving you the lowdown on some tricks within their respective games? These videos will be released every Monday during the month of August and there are four videos in total. In this final video of the series, we sit down with Mystik and she teaches how to utilize Hayate's strengths to defeat our opponents. He has a wide variety of moves and the key is knowing when to use each move. We hope you enjoy the tips!

Core Cam: Offbeat Ninja Recording *FAILED*

Posted by: MarkDolven

The Core's Dead or Alive 4 superstar, Offbeat Ninja, fielded questions tonight in a live video chat hosted by the Carolina Core. The fans were allowed to ask him anything and he answered them all as honestly as he could. Some of the questions were pretty off the wall, but he answered them anyway. A lot of the questions were about Soul Calibur 4 and his CGS experiences, but some even asked cake or pie? We experienced a lot of technical difficulties with the software we chose to use, but in the future we'll have a better solution. Devour won the vote to be the next player on Core Cam, so stay tuned for more hopeful information on that. However, the recordings from tonight's show failed, so if you missed this, you are out of luck! Much apologies to the recordings being lost :(

CaliJared's Thoughts On Soul Calibur 4

Posted by: MarkDolven

Former CGS professional and current CarolinaCore.com fighting expert, Jared “CaliJared” Reyes, checks in with his thoughts and views on the recently released Soul Calibur 4. With a lot of current hype behind it, Jared tells us his initial thoughts and also draws a lot of comparisons to Dead or Alive 4. With the 2009 official CGS game titles unannounced, a lot of the community has been looking towards SC4 as a possible addition to the league. This article is a great chance to get more familiar with the game. Obviously, no one will know what games the CGS decides until they announce them, but we have asked Jared to take a look at the game anyway since it has been getting such rave reviews.

This Sunday on August 24th, the Carolina Core will be hosting a live video chat with the franchise player of the team, Ryan “Offbeat Ninja” Ward. For one hour starting at 8:00 PM EST, Ryan will be answering questions from the fans and telling stories from his time in the Championship Gaming Series. The video chat will use the Ustream.tv technology, but it will be hosted directly here on CarolinaCore.com. There will also be a built in chat-room for you to ask your questions directly to Ryan. So don’t be late because the fun will start right at 8:00 PM EST and will only go for one hour. See you then!
